Flash Development

Flash is today's technology standard for creating rich animations. If you see animated graphics or a website intro movie, it's probably done with Flash. Some of today's mobile devices are not flash capabale. So before you go making big plans with Flash, just keep that in mind. There is opposition from Apple towards Adobe Flash and therefore Apple will not enable flash on their iPhones and iPads and some other devices just aren't capable of playing Flash software. If a website uses flash, it is important that there is a back-up plan in place for devices that don't show flash. Most time developers can simply show a static graphic or photo if flash is not supported on the device.
Another argument against flash on websites is search engines cannot read flash. Flash is literally a series of images sequenced together to create the illusion of movement. Search engines can't read those movie files. So if higher search engine rankings are important, flash must be used wisely and minimally. It is not uncommon to see a logo or other element on a website with movement and that may be perfectly fine from a search ranking perspective. If the entire website is built in flash, it almost has literally no chance of being indexed in a search engine.
