Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Most people find what they are looking for through search engines. Gone are the days of flipping through pages in a phone book to find names and numbers. It's just too easy to go to Google and type what you are looking for and instantly get hundreds of relative results and then drill down further into full-color extensive websites where you can find out so much about a company.
Statistics show less than 10% of people searching in a search engine will click on a search result found on the second page. That means over 90% are finding what they want on the first page of a search engine results page (SERP) ... and 71% click on one of the first 3 listings on the first page. So as you can see, it is very important to be at the top of the first page in the search results. How do you get there? By optimizing your website for search engines also known as search engine optimization or SEO. The first step in knowing how to optimize, is knowing what keyword phrases to optimize for.
Keyword Research
Keyword and keyword phrases refer to the hot buzz words you want to be found for. For example, maybe you are an electrical contractor in Lancaster. Your good keywords might be "Electrical Contractor "... or so you think. Upon further review (sounds like a football game) you'll actually find out the word "electrician" is much heavier searched for than the word "electrical" making "electrician" our top keyword choice.
We have detailed keyword research tools to help our firm evaluate how many searches are being conducted for your search terms and alternative search terms for your industry. They also tell you how competitive those keyword phrases are. The goal is to get keyword phrases that are heavily searched, but not heavily targeted. It is best to optimize your website around 3-5 strong keyword phrases instead of trying to compete for 10-20 which would water-down the effectiveness of your keywords. We can rebuild or re-optimize your website around carefully selected keywords.

On-Site Optimization
Search Engine Optimization can be broken into 2 categories, on-site optimization and off-site optimization. On-site optimization is referred to as anything that is done on your physical website to enhance your visibility in searches. For instance this can be tweaking the words on your pages. Once keyword and keyword phrases that you want to rank for are identified, it is important to know where to place those words, how often to repeat those words and how densely populated those words should be in relation to other words on your page. Other on-site factors include header tags (h1, h2, h3), page titles, image names, alt tags, meta tags, etc. But the single most important on-site factor is clean code. When search engines come around to index your website in their database, they are looking at the code. If your website has clean code and everything in place to identify what your site is about you should rank very well. WebTek's specialty within the web design realm, is clean, search engine optimized code. That's why our clients sites rank very well.
Off-Site Optimization
Off-site optimization is referred to as other factors that are not on your site, yet contribute to where you rank. An example of this can be your domain name. A good domain name is one with your keywords in it. Search engines also look how old the domain name is and how long it's registered for. Another example is your businesses online reputation. Google and others factor good reviews from sites like Yelp, Merchant Circle, Google Places and others. They also take into account how make "likes" on your facebook page and on Google's new plus one (+1). But the single most important off-site factor is probably back links. Back links are other links out on the Internet that point to your website. The more links from authoritative websites, the more popular your website appears. The anchor text that is used to link to your site is very important too. WebTek offers off-site optimization packages and other Internet Marketing strategies to help boost your rankings and website presence.
